The Salapunco Inca sacred site is not listed on the standard tour package, but because we had not had great weather during our tour, the guide decided this would be a good place to visit due to the fact that there was an underground altar below this protruding monolith.
I want to point out that the Incas believe there are deities or "apu" throughout the Peruvian mountain region. The triangular or pyramid shape of these stones and mountains usually indicate that there is an apu or energy vortex associated with it.
